A Letter to Injury Victims from Our Founder, Irwin M. Silbowitz,
Retired New York State Supreme Court Judge.
Dear Prospective Client:
As a New York State Supreme Court Judge for 15 years, I presided over thousands of cases and heard an
equal number of lawyers put forth endless arguments on behalf of their clients.
As I became more experienced in the job, I realized that I could anticipate the attorneys' arguments
before they were even articulated. In truth, it made my job a whole lot easier, because it was a rare day
that I had to contemplate a legal concept that I'd never considered before.
However, when a moment like that did occur, it made my day (sometimes
my whole week), and it didn't matter whether I personally agreed
with the concept or not, because the beauty of the occasion rested
solely in the realization that the laws of our nation are fluid
and can be molded by the most gifted litigators.
As a former jurist, I understand that it is not enough to merely recite the words of others, because each case is different and
every client is unique, and while still on the bench, I recognized that the best lawyers, the true
masters of persuasion, were merely those who understood their clients best and who possessed the ability
to articulate their clients' needs relative to our nation's laws.
When George Garafola and I formed Silbowitz, Garafola, Silbowitz,
Schatz & Frederick, L.L.P. nearly twenty years ago, we were
determined to staff our firm with attorneys who possessed the ability
to "think outside the box" and courageous enough to see their convictions
through. It is this premise, this hallmark of Silbowitz, Garafola,
Silbowitz, Schatz & Frederick, L.L.P. which remains true today.
Our attorneys know the law, and they are committed to getting to
know you and your specific needs. It is this combination that insures
you the best representation available.
Our firm has achieved MULTI MILLION DOLLAR settlements
and awards for our clients. While prior results cannot guarantee
the outcome of future cases, I can guarantee that your case will
receive the same degree of dedication and hard work that went into
each of these prior cases!
In direct contrast to the hard-hitting approach we take toward the insurance companies is the
"compassionate" approach we take toward our clients. I am as proud of our concerned staff for their empathy
as I am for the outstanding financial results they've achieved. For years, I've watched them treat our
clients with patience, dignity and respect - something they realize that every injury victim deserves.
As for advice in this very difficult time in your life, take it one day at a time and concentrate on your life, your family and your health. We'll take care of the rest. Leave the work and worry about your legal rights to us. Insuring that you receive exactly what you are entitled to under the law is our job and we'll perform that job in a way that it is truly unique for you and your case.
Remember, when choosing a law firm to handle your case, there is no substitute for excellence.
Very truly yours,
